Principal's Message

Dear Charles H. Barrows STEM Academy Community,

I am both thrilled and honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Charles H. Barrows STEM Academy. It is with great enthusiasm that I join this exceptional school community, and I look forward to collaborating with students, staff, and families to continue our mission.

I am passionate about the power of STEM instruction to inspire and engage students. STEM is not just about memorizing facts; it’s about encouraging curiosity, nurturing critical thinking, and empowering students to see themselves as problem-solvers and innovators. At Barrows, we provide hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that not only foster intellectual growth but also ignite excitement about the world around us. By teaching in this way, we can inspire students to explore, experiment, and become active participants in their education. How we teach is equally as important as what we teach. Our teaching methods always prioritize student engagement and active participation. We understand that great cognitive growth happens through social interaction, which is why we continue to create opportunities for students to collaborate, problem-solve, and learn from one another. The development of skills such as cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control helps our students build a strong foundation for both personal and academic success.

We are committed to creating a safe, joyful, and inclusive school environment. We believe every student should feel respected and supported, and we are committed to working together as a school community to maintain such an environment. Our knowledge of the students we teach beyond just academic content is essential. At Charles H. Barrows STEM Academy, getting to know our students as individuals culturally, developmentally, and academically is a top priority. By understanding each student’s unique needs, strengths, and learning styles, we can provide tailored support that will help them reach their full potential. Similarly, we recognize the importance of working closely with families and valuing their contributions. Open communication and strong partnerships between school and home are another key to our students’ success.

I am excited for the journey ahead and look forward to working with all of you to ensure that Charles H. Barrows STEM Academy continues to be a place where students feel inspired, supported, and empowered to succeed.
