Family Liaisons: The Link between Home, School and Community.
A Family Liaison is a person who works to bridge the communication between school and home by helping families get the information, help and support they need to ensure their child's academic and social success in school. They identify resources and services from the community to strengthen school programs as well as provide information and ideas to families about how to help students. The family liaison collaborates with school staff to support non-English speaking parents and students.
Family Liaisons are here to:
Attend conferences and school meetings with you.
Assist you with completing school forms.
Explain school goals, policies, procedures, and programs.
Provide information to you about school and community resources and services.
Encourage and arrange opportunities for open communication between you and the school staff.
Encourage parent involvement and leadership in school.
