Where Are You Going to High School?

On April 17th, all Grade 8 Students were given a Withdrawal/ Transfer Form along with a letter to bring home, get signed, and return to Ms. Doyle by April 21st. The form is required and lets us know where to send student records at the end of the school year. If you have already returned your child's form, I thank you. If you have not returned your child's form, please do so. If you are waiting to hear from the School Choice Lottery, please send me an email telling me that your child (include name)  is in the Lottery and you are waiting to hear. My email address is pdoyle@windham.k12.ct.us. You may also email me if you did not receive the form. I will then email you a copy.

While it may seem early to be requesting this information, the secretaries and Student Health Center need to know whose files need to be copied. Copying is very time consuming and needs to be started before the end of school in order to assure that your child's school receives the records by the requested date.  We thank you for your help in this matter.

Patricia Doyle, School Counselor

Hello, and welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year at the Charles H. Barrows STEM Academy!

By way of introduction, my name is Patricia Doyle, and I am the School Counselor for the middle school students (grades 6, 7, and 8).

The STEM areas are so exciting! I am amazed by the advances in these areas, especially in the biotech areas. It is awesome what can be done in this field to help people. A few years ago, I watched a 3D printer “print out” a chess piece! They can even make replacement body parts with these printers. Amazing!

When I am not at work, I like to relax with a good book or pursue hobbies, most notable of which are amateur photography and making cards. I have made cards using rubber stamps. I have also made cards from my photography.

Why Middle School Counselors?

As students begin the passage from childhood to adolescence, middle school can be an exciting and challenging time for students, their parents, and their teachers. I will be here to help with that transition. I will also be working with students in the areas of achieving academic success, personal and social development, and career development. I will be helping our eighth grade students apply to high school

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns about your child. My email address is pdoyle@windham.k12.ct.us. My telephone number is 860-465-2610, extension 4634.
